Our Documentary Story

This documentary features two mothers who, connected by their shared quest to balance the chaos of urban life with the tranquillity of nature, found friendship and purpose through volunteering at Ground-Up Initiative (GUI).

Anu and Pris were drawn to the space for deeply personal reasons—one seeking to heal her body, the other her heart. Over time, both stayed for the supportive community and sense of belonging that GUI brought into their lives.

However, as GUI is set to close at the end of 2024 to make way for new BTO developments, their cherished second home faces an irreversible end. This documentary follows their intertwined journeys as they navigate this emotional transition and reflect on the impact the farm has had on their lives.

ABOUT GROUND-UP INITIATIVE

Ground-Up Initiative (GUI) is a non-profit organisation ith a mission to connect people with nature, self & others. It's more than just a physical space—it’s a sanctuary where people connect, heal, and grow. Through the lens of these two mothers’ stories, we hope to highlight the importance of preserving such spaces in a fast-paced, urban society like Singapore.

This project is also deeply personal to us as young filmmakers and storytellers. We aim to explore themes of loss, resilience, and the power of human connection in the face of change.

WHERE YOUR MONEY WILL GO TO

As students, we face financial constraints while striving to create a professional-quality documentary. Your contributions will directly support various aspects of our production, including:

  • Equipment rental (cameras, lighting, sound gear)

  • Transportation costs for cast, crew, and equipment

  • Meals for our hardworking team

  • Post-production costs (editing, colour grading, sound mixing).

Additionally, the remaining profits from this campaign will go directly to Ground-Up Initiative to support their rebuilding efforts as they prepare for this transition. Any amount you can contribute will make a difference and help us tell this story the way it deserves to be told.

If you would like to donate to our project but don't necessarily want any merch, you still can!

We currently have a Go Get Funding Page with a goal of $2,000, of which 30% of all proceeds will be directly donated back to Ground-Up Initiative to fund their move.

There is no donation too small.

By donating you help support a wonderful community that is always looking to give back to people. On top of that, you are helping our FYP team realise our dream of telling a heartfelt documentary.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your support. It means the world to us.
